A Bit More Distance and No iPhone

Today’s jog was the fourth of the week and also the most consistent I’ve been since I started training. I attempted to mix things up today by eating breakfast an hour before, jogging in the morning, adding a bit more distance, and tracking my distance and pace using my Garmin Forerunning 310XT GPS watch, leaving my iPhone at home. Running without music and the extra weight of my iPhone around my left arm doesn’t appear to be affecting anything. One thing to note was that I paused my watch for less than a minute while I was waiting at the traffic light and that bit of rest allowed me to sprint the home stretch!

I added a bit more distance to Friday’s jog by running around the small loop inside the Valley of the Temples Memorial Park.

Jogging With No Music

I’m going to do my best to go jogging at least every other day this week and today I jogged without listening to music to see if there was any difference. After comparing today’s jog and Sunday’s jog, my average pace and average speed is about the same.

Roughly the same average pace and average speed without listening to music.

When I got home I tweeted, “Never try to handle expensive gadgets when you are fatigued, you will drop them. ” I was referring to my Garmin GPS watch that I DON’T normally take off until I get inside the house.

Run…Bike…Swim (Shower)!

I somehow found enough energy to go jogging AND cycling in the same day. I even jogged a bit further while picking up the pace!

I don’t even have my driver’s license yet and while I’m scheduled to take my road test this Friday, I ALREADY got into my first car accident yesterday! Thankfully, no one got hurt and it was a pretty minor rear-end while at an intersection waiting to make a right turn. It was my turn on a green light to turn right and this dumbass cyclist decides to abruptly ride across the crosswalk forcing me to brake suddenly causing the huge truck behind me to tap my ass!

Boo boo...bumper pushed out and white paint left behind.

*Steps on soapbox* It’s cyclists like that, that give the rest of us a bad reputation. If you’re going to use the crosswalk, get off your bike and walk the fucking thing. DON’T RIDE IN IT! *Steps off soapbox*

Hopefully this isn’t a sign.

Saturday Morning Ride Around Town

Phillip and I went cycling early Saturday morning and we were finally able to test out the trailer he had purchased late last year for his son. Unfortunately, I wasn’t able to take any pictures of his son sitting or riding in the trailer as he didn’t seem to keen about it. I’m hoping he’ll take a liking to it as we get more rides in.

When I don’t have leftovers to take to work for lunch I always get breakfast from the L&L Drive-Inn to try and hold me over for the day.

Second Replacement UP by Jawbone – Jogging

I wore my UP band on what was supposed to be a three mile jog that ended up being a two mile jog because I gassed out after the first mile. I really need to learn how to pace myself on the first mile which typically ends up being an eight minute mile. Better yet, I should just jog more consistently, like five times a week!

Pretty accurate, surprisingly!

I enabled the “workout” mode a while before I started my Garmin GPS watch and the Runkeeper app on my iPhone, but for the most part, it’s pretty accurate.
